What can I do for you?
Struggling with brittle brushes in winter or soft bristles in hot water? Understanding the "temperature code" can help you pick the perfect kitchen brush in just five seconds. Here’s what you need to know!
1. High-Temperature Zone (>80°C): Nylon Brushes "Won't Melt"
For tasks like scrubbing pots at 80°C, nylon brushes stand strong while regular ones warp. Test: Hold a lighter to nylon for three seconds—it won’t melt (heat resistant up to 150°C), while polypropylene (PP) fails at just 100°C. Best for: Oven grime and stirring hot soups.
2. Freezing Zone (<0°C): PET Brushes "Won't Snap"
If your brushes crack when frozen, switch to PET. These brushes can bend 90° without breaking, even at -40°C. Practical Use: They clean frozen shrimp without scratching and prevent ice buildup in winter. Feel: Softer than nylon but more durable than PP, like a rubber band in the cold.
3. Room Temperature Zone (0-80°C): PP Brushes "Best Value"
For everyday dishwashing, PP brushes are ideal. They handle 40°C water without softening and effectively remove grease. Caution: Avoid water above 80°C to prevent bending. Best for: Sinks and pet bowls.
At-Home Tests:
Heat Resistance: Soak in 90°C water for 10 seconds.
Nylon: Bends and returns to shape.
PP: Becomes soft and difficult to straighten.
Freeze Resistance: Freeze for 2 hours.
PET: Bends without cracking (like a rubber band).
Regular Brush: Snaps with a brittle sound.
